Morgan Hill and Gilroy two separate, small South County communities are located south of San Jose and are surrounded by the Santa Cruz mountain range to the west and the Diablo mountain range to the east. With its mild climate, the Morgan Hill-Gilroy area is home to some of California’s premium winemakers. The weather is similar to that of Italy, attracting many Italians to the region, making this area known as Little Tuscany . Gilroy is the “Garlic Capital of the World” and is home to the annual Garlic Festival that is held each July. Morgan Hill is known for its peaceful residential environment, its award-winning parks, golf course and recreation programs, and for its “urban forest,” for which the city has won Tree City USA awards annually since 1979.

Parks and open spaces are prevalent in both communities and help preserve the small town atmosphere. Yet the commute to places of work in Silicon Valley is relatively short. There are exceptional regional and state parks and reservoirs near the communities of Morgan Hill and Gilroy. Mt Madonna County Park is known for its towering redwood forest. Uvas Canyon is a very pretty area for hiking and horseback riding and the Henry W Coe State Park has incredible scenery, abundant wildflowers and challenging hikes. The many local reservoirs are fun places for boating and fishing.
