There is an abundance of natural beauty in this community with the many creeks and reservoirs. Through trails in Ed Levin County Park, hikers and naturalists have a route to Monument Peak. There is much more to enjoy in the park beyond. For adventurous souls there is hang gliding and paragliding. There are also numerous sports facilities and a dog park for furry friends. Milpitas is also home to two golf courses: Spring Valley Golf Course and Summitpointe Golf Course.

The arts community in Milpitas is also thriving and offers many opportunities to its residents. The Milpitas Alliance for the Arts provides numerous cultural activities such as theater performances and public art. Milpitas has a number of restaurants and is home to The Great Mall of the Bay Area. For a change of pace a few miles drive into the foothills is Big Dog Vineyards, a small privately owned winery.

Milpitas has a well-respected public school system. The schools in this community have consistently been highly rated year after year.
